 While this year was all about the Aquatimer for IWC, let's not forget the complete overhaul the Engineer line received in 2013. Following that, IWC has just introduced two new watches to the Engineer range, including this Dual Time which it retains many of the design traits we liked on the base 40mm Engineer while adding the functionality replica watches we saw in the Engineer Dual Time Titanium. It's a little larger than the Engineer just for time at 43mm, but still has the '70s-style integrated bracelet and 5-hole bezel that references the original Genta-designed Engineer SL. Let's take a closer look at this new steel GMT from IWC.



Most replica watches in the 2013 Engineer collection are on the large side at 45mm, but the basic Engineer automatic cuts a more reserved profile at 40mm, a great size for a modern sports watch. The Engineer Dual Time we have here splits the difference, coming in at 43mm, but with the same overall shape and proportions as its smaller, tempo-only cousin. This means it's also a little thicker, at 13.5mm.



Two dial configurations are available, black and silver. The former has white lume filling the hands and applied markers, and a combination black/light gray 24 hour track for the GMT hand, while the latter has dark blue filled hour markers, white luminous hands, and a matching dark blue/light gray 24 – hourly track. A date window at the 3 o'clock concludes things.



Inside is the caliber 35720 movement, automatic and with a 42-hour power reserve. For convenience, the GMT hand can be adjusted both forwards and backwards in one-hour increments from the crown, meaning no additional buttons or adjusters are needed. Dual Time also offers hacking seconds, allowing you to set the time precisely to the second. As with the 40mm Engineer, this watch has a solid caseback, so the movement remains hidden.
